Peoples Accordion Lamps

Designed by the late great fiddler Tommy Peoples, they are beautiful, clever, earthy, functional and quirky. They have obvious connotations of folk music, and the fun it evokes.

The lamps are completely handmade in Kinvara, Co.Galway. The wooden sides are made from reclaimed pallet wood, sanded, shaped, stained, and given a satin finish. The paper shade is scored and folded by hand, and treated with an oil to make it stronger, and translucent. It’s then fitted to the wooden sides, and the buttons etc are assembled by hand. They can be wall hung, or sat on a shelf.

There are three power options: Mains, battery or USB Rechargeable. All are LED bulbs, and all come with a remote control.

  1. The mains unit has a 1.5m cable, and an Irish/UK plug.
  2. The battery unit is powered by 3 x AAA batteries (included), or it can be powered by a USB cable (not included).
  3. The USB Rechargeable unit is just that! The built-in battery lasts up to 80 hours between charges. It’s easy to remove for charging, or you can connect the charging cable with the light still in the lamp.

For the battery and rechargeable units, you can buy an optional longer USB cable and a USB plug, and plug the lamp in permanently. They are available here.

The accordion measures approx 40cm (16″) (left to right) at the widest point, and 23cm (9″) from top to bottom.

The concertina measures 30cm (12″) long and 15cm (6″) high.
